One Year Today

It has been one year today that we started our adoption process. I remember the feelings when we started, I just wanted to get going with the paperwork to get our boy home. My husband thought I was the energizer bunny, go go go.

I have definitely slowed down, seeing we are waiting and waiting and waiting. Nothing more to do but wait. It is hard waiting and going on with your life, at least when you are busy you feel productive. Now it is out of our hands literally and up to everyone else in Bulgaria, but ultimately God has been in control the whole time. Thankfully!

Our friends, Devries, who started actually 2 months later than us are going to be traveling for court next week to Russia. After court their is a 10 day waiting period (they will return to the US because they have 3 boys) and then they return to pick up their daughter (she is 3 years old). So hopefully their daughter will be home by the end of April. Amazing! Russia is faster than Bulgaria for sure. I am still hoping we will have a referral by next January, if not sooner.

Thank you to our friends and family who have been following our journey and for your encouragement. Remember we will be having a garage sale this summer so start looking through your things that we could use in our sale. Thanks.

Yes, I've known your in-laws for many years. They actually counseled us before we got married. I'll be excited to hear you get the news. It's really emotional and overwhelming. Have fun in the meantime!

Congratulations on ONE YEAR!!!! That means you are one whole year closer to welcoming your precious son home! How exciting!

We actually signed with our agency and began our homestudy the last week of March... so really only about 2 weeks after you guys, not two months. Which means we are very close to our one year anniversary as well.

Russia can be a 'quick' process, it depends on the child you are looking for. Under 24-30 months and healthy can easily take two years right now. We were open to a three and a half year old with mild uncorrectable health issues... which is why it has only taken about a year from start to finish.

We pray for you guys and your son all the time! I'm so thankful to be able to share in your journey! 2009 will be amazing years for both of our families!

Trusting God and praying on!
Love you! Sarah

Chris and Celeste,
Thanks for you advice on the medicals! I was hoping that our medicals from China could be redone but since they were completed in Jan that is out of the question. Oh well, I guess the same will apply for our FBI check. I really appreciate any info. It seems that Bulgaria has lots of unknown and info is not easily obtained. Thanks a million. One year must be bittersweet!!

One year - wow, time seems to go so slowly, then "all of a sudden", it's been a year! Praying with you for God's timing. I'm sure it is reassuring to know He knows all of the details of His plan for you and your son.

Waiting and hoping with you...
