Cathryn will be 5 on Wednesday!

As we wait for Calvin to come home, life goes on. Cathryn was 3 when we decided to adopt, seems like time has gone by so slowly as we wait, but I can't believe our baby is 5 in a couple of days. Where does the time go? On Saturday we will be having a tea-party for her and her 2 cousins and 5 girl friends. It seems like tea-party's are getting popular. We have received two invitations to tea party birthdays since we decided to have a tea party.

There is a ton of information out there on tea parties. We have asked her friends to show up in formal attire (either princess dress or formal dress). We will have a nail painting station and make up station for the girls. And when they arrive they will make fruit loop necklaces. We will be drinking decaf tea/ lemonade (their choice). My girls actually love tea! Their British side coming out. For lunch we will have sandwiches, fruit kabobs, and chocolate covered strawberries. For dessert I am making a teapot cake and some cupcakes with ice-cream. I am very nervous about making the teapot cake so hopefully it will turn out. Some game ideas are; find the teacup (scavenger hunt), put the handle on the teapot, and a story about teatime manners. I am excited and I know Cathryn is too. I know I still have to post pictures of Caroline's snowflake party. I guess I will do it the same time I put Cathryn's pictures up on the blog. Sorry I am not very good at that. So as you see we are keeping busy.
On the adoption front, we have been registered now for 14 months....so if 18 months is the real time frame that means only 4 more months of waiting for a referral. But honestly, it seems like it will be Christmas before we get a referral. A fellow adoptive parent I keep in touch with has been waiting for 2 years now to get a referral for a young healthy child. Her agency says any day now! Will keep you posted. Please continue to pray for our son, and patience for us.
Right now there is a family in China from our church adopting their 9 year old daughter. They should be returning home this Sunday. They already have 2 adopted children, I think from Korea, and 2 biological older boys at home too. So excited for them.
Prov 3;5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.

Happy birthday to Cathryn!!! The tea party sounds AWESOME. I would love to see pics of the cake. Little girls are so cute. It makes me smile to imagine them drinking real tea. Toddlers here in NC are raised on sweet iced tea( not mine). Keep us up to date about the fellow adoption friend about to get good news!!! I am dying to see something happen in Bulgaria.

My middle nephew turns 5 today. He is a wild man with boundless energy, so no tea parties in his future :-). Instead, my husband and I are taking him to Jump Zone this afternoon (a big indoor place with lots of giant, bouncy inflatibles to play on) and then we are meeting his parents, sibs, and some other relatives for a pizza party at a local restaurant.
