Busy week for Calvin...

This past Saturday my mom flew into town from Alabama to see her first grandson and her grand daughters too! Calvin calls her baba, even though we have tried to get him to call her granny. There have been kisses and hugs but no picking up or helping him. He was shy when she first got into the car at the airport but by dinner time he was running around outside and playing and doing just fine.
This week has been a very busy one for Calvin. He had his peds appointment Monday. Our doctor had to make referrals for us to the cardiology and the urologist (he needs to be circumcised). We also noticed he vomits (in his mouth, through out the day) so we had to go to radiology this morning at the children's hospital. The appointment this morning he did great. He wasn't allowed to eat or drink so we had a 8am appointment. He had to drink some pink raspberry flavored stuff and then lie down (strapped in with velcro) and they did watched the fluid move through his tummy and intestines. Everything looked fine! Great, except we still don't know why he is vomitting and how to stop it. I personally think it is so he can have a 'second meal' and he forces himself out of habit. This is not good, mainly because of his teeth. He has many cavities (brown spots on his teeth). So not sure what to do now, any suggestions? Anyone else experience this with their kids?
Calvin has an appointment with the cardiologist in October!!! When we were at our primary care physician on Monday he said he didn't hear any murmurs and his heart sounded great! What a praise. He was also weighed and is 28pds. Calvin eats everything and is learning to be more patient for his food. He says 'yum yums coming?', over and over. He says about 2 new words a day, yesterday was all done and please. He says good night at bed time, bubbles for bathtime and brush for brushing his teeth. He loves to brush his teeth, have his diaper changed and bath now.
My favorite time of day though is bed time. I rock him in my arms in the rocking chair, we read a story, sing some songs and cuddle. He is a precious gift from God. He is doing very well, we lay him down for naps and bedtime and he will talk and play for about 30 minutes and then go to sleep sucking his finger.

Awesome!! So glad to hear!! It's so good you are able to enjoy your son. Sorry about the cavities. Andrew had a mouthful as well, but you know that already. Didn't deal with the vomit though. Maybe he'll just grow out of it the more he feels safe and realizes he will be taken care of. Thanks for the updates. We look forward to reading them. We should probably update our blog soon too.

Sounds like he is doing very well! I'm impressed! Faith hasn't made too many improvements in the way of speech or waiting for food :( Our oldest from Russia had sever decay on his teeth. The dentist we went to said it was just external and since they were baby teeth to not worry about it, they would fall out and the new ones would be fine. 5 years later he is just fine and they have fallen out and new shiny ones are coming in!

Hi!! We have had similar troubles with our little 4 year old Shane. He is...believe it or not... 27lbs and severly underweight. (He was 24lbs when we got him). So I Know your pain!! He does the same throw up thing and we have been battling this for 3 months now. Not only does he sometimes throw up, but he also eats under 400 calories a day!! It scares me. And we have had him looked at by many doctors, so far they have found nothing either. What we found that workes best, is not pressuring him to eat more. I think part of it is psycological and the other part is a VERY small stomach. It is uterlly stressful to watch him eat only 100 calorie meals... and thats packing in TONS of calories in his little bites of food. I would suggest adding a Pediasure drink a day. Start with one drink because two may be too much for him...or at least it was for Shane. His throwing up has now stopped. Feel free to email me if you have other questions. We are still 'a work in progress' but we are making headway. LOL! Good Luck! OH and congradulations!! Hes a cutie!!

Rex weighed in at 28 pounds as well on Wednesday and 33.5 inches for height. Are our kids the same size?

Love Calvin's language development. No progress here, but we now officially have the diagnosis of fluids in both ears and tubes will be put in in a few weeks.

Great to hear that Calvin is doing better each and every day! And, the news words that he is learning is so wonderful. We are praying that Yuli will do better after his palate is fixed and several sessions of speech therapy. He tries so hard right now, but his voice is so nasally because of the large hole is his palate (he also does not open his mouth when he is talking) that it is difficult to understand many of the things he is saying to me.
