snow ice-cream!

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/snow-ice-cream-ii/detail.aspx
This is where we found the recipe. When it is snowing like it has for the past couple of days, finding fresh snow is easy. The girls made snow icecream for snack today. It was soo easy!

We are getting excited about going to Florida, praying that the snow doesn't follow us down. Thus far, the weather looks like it will be in the 60's. Better than 20 degree weather for sure.

praying and knitting

I have been praying that we will be travelling this summer to meet our son. My prayer in the past has been for our sons protection and that he would be home 'soon'. I am studying the book of James in my precepts bible study at church and this past week we discussed chapter 1. We talked about prayer and how God will answer our prayers if we ask without doubting. Do we pray doubting that God will actually answer our prayers? James 1: 6-8 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, he is a double minded man, unstable in all his ways. My prayer is still that the Lords will be done. But I am also praying specifically knowing he will answer the cry of my heart.

On another note, Caroline got a knitting kit from my mom, brother and step father, so we practiced knitting today. She is making a red purse! I forgot how much I actually enjoy knitting. I think I will begin knitting something for Calvin or the workers at the orphanage. Another hobby to keep me busy...running is going well. I am finally up to running 40 min (3.6miles). Am I enjoying it yet, no, but I do like how I feel when I have accomplished my goal. I have been volunteering at the hospital NICU, Sundays seem to be the best time for me and my family to do that. I am enjoying it the more I go. Those babies are so precious. I tell them how they are loved by God. I pray that my son knows that he is loved and that God is protecting him. Wish we could be there now.

Caroline's Snowflake Party

Marshmallow race (snow race)
snowflake cupcakes (store bought)
Kitchen decorated in a snowflake theme!!!

We got the idea of 'snowflake' party from my sister in law, who had one for my niece. We had a total of 7 girls altogether from school and church. When the girls arrived we made a craft, we then had a balloon game (snowballs) in the living room while we waited for everyone to finish their craft. We had hot-dogs, chips and grapes for lunch.
We then decorated a cookie (to look like a snowflake) to put in their goodie bags. Once we were done with that we had a snowflake hunt. (we hid snowflake pictures on the main floor of the house). We then played a game called ' melted snowball', similar to hot potato. When a child was holding the snowball (sock with newspaper in it) and the music stopped they were out. They got a piece of candy for their goodie bag.
The next game was a marshmallow relay. We had two teams and they kids had to run to a bowl of marshmallows and with a spoon carry some marshmallows to their team mate and so on.
The favorite game was a relay dressing in winter clothes game. We used my husbands huge coats and hats. They had to put on snow pants, gloves, scarves, hats and coat. It was very funny!
We then opened presents and had snowflake cupcakes and ice cream. Another great idea I got from a friend is doing a 'highlights' hidden picture. You can get this off the internet. The kids did this until they were picked up. It was a great party for all. I got most of my ideas from the internet! I will post pictures soon.
