New City Church Baby Shower
This past Saturday, our church gave us a baby shower for Calvin. We are a small church plant so we had a total of 10 ladies. It was so nice to chat with ladies you don't usually get to talk to at church. It was a great time of fellowship and it was very touching to me that they wanted to express their love to our family in this way. Calvin was blessed with some boy books, toys, and pj's. Thank you New City Church.

Today in honor of Calvin's birthday I went a bought a few things for his bedroom. I was looking for some sort of wall hanging to put above his headboard, but couldn't find anything I liked. So today I went to Hobby Lobby and bought vinyl to make a verse to put on the wall. I am still trying to decide between 5. Hoping to make a decision by next week to get it up on the wall. I looked for the already made verses but they didn't have any for kids. I also bought 2 8x10 frames to put on his wall that are blue to go on the red wall. I will put a picture of him and his sisters in one and the other one will be him with his friends at the orphanage.
Missing him today.
Happy Birthday Calvin
Three years ago today, our little guy was born on the other side of the ocean. We had started the adoption process by then, and were actually looking to adopt from the Ukraine. I had a picture of a little boy with blond hair and blue eyes in my mind. When we decided to change countries in June/July that is when Calvin was placed in the orphanage by his mom in Bulgaria. We are so blessed to have found you son, after all these years of waiting. And he has dark brown hair and eyes like the rest of us!
I received an email from our agency with some medical history and pictures of about 4 little boys, the youngest being Calvin (2.5 yrs old) who had some special medical needs. I requested more information on him and updated pictures, his picture was from when he was about 12 months old. We asked for updated head circumference, weight and height and other info on his medical condition. We then prayed about it and a few weeks later sent the above information to our IA doctor. We couldn't be given his official referral because our paperwork didn't have his exact medical condition, so we had to update our paperwork, which took 3 months. Finally in February we received his official referral.
It is hard to believe it has been 7 months since we first saw Calvin's little face in a picture and we are still waiting on a court date to bring him home. It is so hard not being able to do anything about it but wait. Reminds me of the song, I am waiting on you Lord.
Each holiday that goes by, I think of you little one. I think of you when I rise in the morning and I think of you when my head touches the pillow at night. I thank my God for you and pray for your safety. We are waiting to bring you home. I pray this will be the last birthday you celebrate with out your family.
I am hoping the care givers are taking pictures of Calvin's special day today. We sent them a disposable camera and some gifts for him, and treats for him and his friends. Once we get our son home I plan to have a 'small' birthday party for him with just family. This will probably not be until he is home at least for a month. He loves lego's so I will make lego cupcakes and do a lego theme. Can't wait to see him again, and hold him.

Mother's Day
Today I was blessed by being served breakfast in bed. Caroline and Cathryn (with daddy's help) made me whole wheat pancakes with blueberry syrup and coffee. Caroline made me paper flowers (her hand traced) that looked like Easter Lillies (yellow pipe cleaner inside each hand). Both girls made me a card and snuggled with me in bed. My thoughts are also with Calvin today. We miss him and wish he was able to snuggle and be with us. I am also thinking of his birth mom. I pray for her and I hope one day we will be able to thank her for the gift she has given us and her son. Also thinking of my mom and how it must be a sad day for her as she remembers her mom (my grandmother) who is no longer with us.
The one thing that is keeping me together is knowing our son will be home next mother's day and this will be his last in an orphanage. Now if only our paperwork would get signed at the MOJ and sent to court for a court date.

In the news as we wait...
This past week Prince William got married to Kate Middleton. My girls and I watched as much as we could before Caroline had to go to school. It brought back memories of Princess Diana's wedding to Prince Charles. Also Osama .B.L was found and killed (tried explaining to my kids who he was, and what happened in NYC with the twin towers). Also had to try and explain why it was a good thing he was killed but how it is also a sad thing because we are all made in the image of Christ and we shouldn't kill each other.
We have also had tornadoes going through the Southern States and many were killed in Alabama and Mississippi. My family lives in Alabama, thankfully they are safe. They lost power but that was all they experienced. Their church has been helping those who have lost everything.
