Next on the agenda is Chris' physical with his doctor, he is to call this week to set it up for sometime in August because our homestudy will have to be sent to USCIS by Sept 24th.

Re fingerprint request
Tomorrow our request will go to homeland security in Detroit. We need to be re-fingerprinted, this time around is free and it will be good for 15 months. Lets pray that we will have court before 15 months is up or we will have to pay $80 for Chris and $80 for me to be re fingerprinted again.

July 2009
We are thrilled to share that our first family will travel to complete their first trip to Bulgaria at the end of July! The Bulgarian Parliament elections were held on July 5th. Overall adoption activity has slowed down as a result of the elections. In June, the new Family Code was passed. One of the significant changes that relate to adoptions becomes effective October 1st; children may be eligible for international adoption at 6 months rather than 12 months provided there has not been any contact from the birth family. The changes to the Family Code demonstrate how the well-being of the children is always at the forefront! Adoptions in Bulgaria have slowed down a bit as a result of the European Union elections. The Bulgarian Parliament elections are also being held this summer on July 5th. It is anticipated that adoption activity will resume soon. We are hopeful that the IAC will continue to meet on a regular basis to match waiting children with their forever families. Our Bulgaria adoption program is currently full as we wait for our first few families to complete their adoptions. However, we are accepting applications from families who are hoping to adopt older children (10 years and older) and/or children with special needs. We have been informed that the Minister of Justice has committed to matching children with families whose dossiers were submitted in 2005 by the end of June. This is great news as the number of dossiers that were submitted in 2006 and 2007, approximately 230, are far less than those submitted in 2005. We are hopeful that the IAC will continue to meet on a regular basis to match waiting children with their forever families. Candy for Calvin
Okay, I don't believe we have shared with anyone on here yet, but we have a name for our son in Bulgaria. It is Calvin. His middle name will be his given Bulgarian name so he will still keep it. We decided on Calvin because as you have probably noticed we are all C's. Chris, Celeste, Caroline and Cathryn. We both went to Calvin College, and we hold to much of John Calvin's theology (great reformer).
So, last night Chris and I go upstairs to get ready to turn in and we see that Caroline has placed little gifts of candy outside our doors with our names on them. She did the same thing for her sister and of course herself. Too sweet.
This morning, I thank her and she tells me that she also put some in Calvin's room. She asks me if the candy will go bad before he comes home! Too cute. It touches my heart as a mom to know that she is thinking about her baby brother even when he isn't here yet.
She asks me weekly when he will be joining our family, wish I had an answer for her ' all in God's timing.' Hopefully this time next year...haven't I been saying that for over a year now.
Last night I read the following and need to remind myself of this-
Life under God's control and not my own;
1. To glorify God with my life
2. To grow in godliness
3. To know God intimately
4. To serve His eternal purposes
This adoption process thus far, has made me be patient, and rely on God's timing not to try and control things...kind of hard to control it as it is out of my hands. We decided to adopt because we knew this is what God was calling us to do, kind of scary, but we have to be obedient. Through this I want to grow in godliness, know God intimately and glorify Him.
Any control you perceive you have over your present or future circumstances is a mere illusion!!

Tol Referrals
We got an update from our agency today letting us know that 3 families received referrals from the last ministry of justice meeting and are getting ready to travel. That is good news. They have had a number of families bring their children home from Ethiopia, Kazakhstan and Guatemala.
Next week sometime i will have to send in a request to get our fingerprints updated for USCIS. They expire in August. No more news, i will post pics of Caroline's new room next time.

Registered for 6 months
As I was laying in bed last night, I realized that on July 6th we have been registered for 6 months now. We moved Caroline into the guest bedroom, now it is her room so her old room looks very empty. Kind of depressing actually. I am torn about whether i should start decorating it for our son or not. I have already bought him some clothes at garage sales, and my friend Sarah has given me some clothes from her boys. So I put the 2 and 3 year old clothes in his dresser and hung the pants and dress shirts in his closet. The only thinks we don't have are socks, underwear and shoes really.
I remember how excited I was when we decided to adopt, now it is just sad to look at his room and not see him in there. I have decided i will not be decorating his room until we get his referral.
Caroline loves her new room, it is bigger and she got a new dresser ( I bought it at a garage sale and painted it red). I will take pictures and post very soon. Life goes on, we pray for you son and all the other orphans. I know God is working as we go about with our busyness here in America and you are over there in Bulgaria.
God has lead us to you in Bulgaria. I found out this week that Bethany ended up closing their Albania program, we originally looked at this country but were told it was a long wait and older children, which then led us to Ukraine, which then led us to Bulgaria. All in God's hands and His timing.
