1. For court (after trip one) you will need to have your medicals updated if they are older than 6 months. We had our physical done a few months ago for our homestudy so we will just get our blood work done (tb, HIV and Hep).
2. You will need new back ground checks (fingerprints for the FBI) if they are older than 6 months. And since January 25 2011 you can now request it to be notarized with a seal and signature. Once you get that done you then have to have it appostilled. Everything needs to be apostilled before you mail it to Bulgaria. We did our fingerprints and mailed to the FBI before traveling, after we received our referral. I heard it was taking some people 12 weeks to get them back. But ours only took 2 weeks to get back.
3. I800 needs to be done, down load and wait on your agency to give you the needed paperwork for your child (medical, birthdate, orphanage address etc). Not sure how long this is taking, will let you know when we get it back.
Courts in Bulgaria close during the month of July and August so I am praying we travel before then. Does anyone know how long after everything is sent to Bulgaria, does it take to get a court date? Thanks

I think you must have your I-800 approved by NBC first before BLG will assign a court date. The I-800approval takes at least a month from submission according to what I am told. So, maybe in April your remaining paperwork will be in BLG and then a court date can be assigned thereafter.
It took over a week of being home to get the documents we needed from Bulgaria. Once submitted it took exactly 3 weeks to get the I800 provisional approval, which was June 10th and court happened for us on Aug. 4th. We didn't actually receive news of a court date basically until right before it happened. We wrote a note to our agency on the first of Aug. stating that we figured we now had to wait the summer with courts shutting down and they said they just got word of a court date on the 4th of Aug. while courts were supposed to be shut down. Hope that all helps.
Kay is telling me 6 weeks to court date after approval arrives in Bulgaria and then 5 weeks after court travel. Hoping we hear about our court date soon... our paper work was in BG 5 weeks ago.
